Indochine is a French pop rock band from Paris, formed by Nicola Sirkis and Dominique Nicolas in 1982, and from the synthpop, new wave movement.
Revealed by the title "L'Aventurier" in 1982, the group enjoyed great success in the 1980s with hits such as "Trois nuits par semaine", "3e sexe", "Tes yeux noirs" or "Canary Bay".
After a few albums that met with less success and a clear lack of interest from the media in the 1990s, the group found success again in 2002 with the release of the album Paradise from which the single "J'ai demande à la lune" came.
Indochine was the first French group to sell out the Stade de France in 2012. In 2011, they received an Honorary Victoire at the Victoires de la Musique.
With over 13 million records sold, they are the French group that has sold the most records. In 2017,
Indochine received an Honorary Award at the NRJ Music Awards.
On Saturday, May 21, 2022, while the group broke the record for the number of spectators present at the Stade de France during its Central Tour (97,036 people), a poll placed Indochine in third place in the ranking of the French people's favorite artists.
The following year, the group rose to second place in the same ranking.
